La Rioja proposes 2021 holiday list; public holiday on Easter Monday

2021 Europe

The northern Spanish Autonomous Community of La Rioja, famed for its wine, has proposed the public holiday dates for 2021.

Next year, Assumption Day falls on a Sunday and will be replaced by Easter Monday, creating a five-day Easter break.

In total, citizens will enjoy 12 public holidays at a community level, with four long weekends and two holidays falling on a Saturday – Labour Day and Christmas Day.

As Constitution Day falls on a Monday and Immaculate Conception Day two days later, we recommend using a day of holiday leave on the ‘holiday aqueduct’ of Tuesday December 7th to create a five-day break in the run-up to Christmas – book now to avoid disappointment!

In addition, there will be up to two days of the year in each municipality, as determined by their respective City Council.

The list of public holidays in 2021 is:

Friday, January 1st, New Year; Wednesday, January 6th, Epiphany; April 1st, Holy Thursday; April 2nd, Good Friday; April 5th, Easter Monday; Saturday, May 1st, Labor Day; Thursday June 10th, La Rioja Day; Tuesday October 12th, National Day of Spain; Monday, November 1st, All Saints; Monday, December 6th, Day of the Spanish Constitution; Wednesday December 8th, Day of the Immaculate Conception; Saturday, December 25th, Christmas Day.
