The Guernsey government has announced that the Liberation Day Bank Holiday will take place one day earlier on Friday 8 May 8th in 2020.
The proposition for the change had been put forward by Deputy John Gollop.
Liberation Day is normally observed on July 9th, which will fall on a Saturday in 2020.
This means that Guernsey will observe a holiday on the same day as the UK, which has moved the Early May Bank Holiday from Monday May 4th to Friday May 8th in order to mark the 75th anniversary of V.E. Day.
